Bandar Abbas is the most important port in southern Iran. When Alexander conquered the land of Iran, Bandar Abbas was known as Hormirzad. Of course, the city was not in the current location, it was a small town on the Bandar Abbas route to Minab, with a centrality with the island of Hormuz. At the time of occupying the area by the Portuguese, this place was called Gambron or Gamron. In 1622 Shah Abbas, with the help of the British, and the ability of the Iranian leader, Imam Gholi Khan, managed to shorten the Portuguese's hands from this port. In honor of this great victory, Gambron was renamed Bandar Abbas (port of Abbas). In the current divisions of the country, Bandar Abbas is the capital of Hormozgan province and one of the most important strategic and commercial centers of Iran near the Persian Gulf and Oman Sea. Bandar Abbas is located in northern Strait of Hormuz and has an area of 27316 square kilometers. This city is north of Hajiabad and east to Minab and Rudan, west of the cities: Bandar Khamir and Bandar Lengeh, Parsian, Bastak and south to Persian Gulf and Qeshm Island. The length of the Persian Gulf coast in this city is about 45 km and the altitude is 10 m. The closest city to Bandar Abbas is Qeshm, about 28 km away. The natives of Bandar Abbas speak “Bandari”. On the other hand, the presence of peoples and peoples of different lands throughout history in this land has created a combination of Persian, Baluchi, English, Hindi and Arabic languages in Bandar Abbas. The people of this city are very warm and hospitable. The city of Bandar Abbas has many tourism and amusement attractions that traveling to this city is accompanied by different memories and experiences.
